2020 was a difficult year for many and we'd be forgiven for wishing to forget it entirely. Nevertheless, there is much we should be proud of, and a great deal to learn from as we begin a new year.
In April, we launched the Merchant Taylors' Foundation, a charity which simplified our existing charities structure into one flagship. The Foundation tackles disadvantage and educational need and our first appeal was to raise funds for those worst hit by coronavirus. By May, members had raised over £50,000 to help the most vulnerable people in society. The money delivered desperately-needed tech to schoolchildren to help support their remote learning; struggling families received food vouchers; domestic abuse refuges could provide assistance and housing to victims of abuse.
The appeal raised funds for a wide range of causes, a range of which can be found here.
CEO of youth homelessness charity Depaul UK, Mike Thiedke, offers a message of thanks to members of Merchant Taylors' Company for their generous support over 2020.
